One of Quebec's first modernist jewelry artisan, Darveau who came from Europe, was instrumental in transmitting his skills and secrets to many students who later became famous in Canada and abroad as members of the brutalist movement in jewelry.

This brooch is typical of his interesting use of textures and elegant shapes. The pewter is silver coated.

Condition: very good with minor surface wear
