I am pleased to be offering here my newest intricate embroidery work...
Using my sewing machine as a drawing tool, I have created this intimate scene - here is a distinctive woman dressed in white with black. She wears a remarkable head-dress of dreaming teardrop-shaped faces. Upon her white gown are many tiny dreaming faces. For the background of this piece I chose to use a vibrant blue shade - and so here is a very detailed scene of faces, patterns and figures, all in blue. This piece may convey to you a world of fantasy, dreaming and beauty.
My embroidery artworks are inspired by my love of art history, the many faces seen in art through the ages. I am especially interested in medieval art and onward, but I like to create and share with you my own dreaming worlds. I have over the past several years developed my own distinctive stitching style.
Occasionally I decide not to add a backing to a piece of stitch work - and this is one of those works. I like the effect of the blue stitching particularly and hope you do too. Please see the third photo to view the 'back' of the work.
