A monkey's fist is a type of knot, that in days of old was tied at the end of a rope to serve as a weight, making it easier to throw a line to shore. Some sailors would even put heavy objects (such as bolts or pieces of shot) inside to make it easier to throw, or to be used as a weapon in a bar room brawl.
Today, it is mostly used as an ornamental knot.
The Monkey's Fist is tied from 5/8" Manila rope and is roughly 5 inches in diameter. It is available with or without the loop. Please let us know at checkout if you would like the loop.
The last picture shows Loop(Spliced), Loop (Single Rope), and Without Loop respectively.
Works great as decor on a table, shelf or hanging on the wall..
Each knot is tied to order.
Note: Due to the nature of the creation process, each item is unique and may be slightly different than what is pictured.
