Inset into each pieces' back is a small but powerful neodymium magnet. This allows the puzzle to live in a vertical world and transforms it from a table-bound activity into a piece of wall art.
Etched onto the pieces' fronts are stars representing the national capitals. Etched onto the backs are the country names. The orientation of the name text indicates which direction is north (i.e., when the text is legible, north is up).
On the face of the puzzle, each piece is subtly distinguished by its unique wood grain direction. The discontinuous pattern makes the grain lines seem almost geological or even agricultural and adds to each pieces' individuality.
It's shown here on my Puzzle Board & Wall Mount (sold separately), which includes a metal Puzzle Board and a Wall Mount system. This allows the puzzle to live on the wall but then to be popped off for use at a table or elsewhere. The Puzzle Board is is perfect for passing the puzzle around at a party and letting friends and family test their geography knowledge.
