For this piece I have used a base of black feathers to accentuate the eye popping blues and rich, lusty reds.
The base of the crown is covered in embroidered satin, and turquoise Indian trim runs around the perimeter. I have used three lines of feathers in total, two of long, jet black iridescent rooster feathers, and one of pink rooser hackle, which is a vibrant fuscia at the roots, fading to darker pink and finally shimmering black at the ends.
Two dynamic red roses are attached to either side of the headdress. Handmade from rich, red felt, delicate red lace, and mottled red tweed, these frame your face perfectly; each one sitting comfortably in place just above your ears. Behind each rose is another flurry of long rooster feathers, bright blue at the base, fading to iridescent shimmering black at the ends.
Below each rose hangs a stream of carefully selected, flowing colourful ribbons and streams of thin black chain to add some more structure.
The headdress can either be fastened with black ribbon ties, or with elastic (as shown in the last photo.) If you prefer elastic, please provide a head measurement to ensure a good fit.
Each headdress is very carefully handmade by me, in my studio in Brighton. If you have an idea for a custom design, please do get in touch using the link at the bottom of the page.
