I came across this by accident and thought it was so interesting. It is a printing plate that would have been used in a local newspaper or magazine at the time. It appears to be a man in an early football uniform, he is not wearing a helmet, so its hard to give a time period. Who knows maybe they didn’t have helmets! If I had to guess I would say the 20’s, which is quite feasible because the college was founded in 1866.
The description of the picture reads to the best of my knowledge “ STARN” in block lettering and then below in script says, “Captain Elect” “Wooster College.” I wanted so badly to make a print of it, but we simply don’t have the tools any longer to do so. I hope the pictures will show its age and authenticity. Plate measures 1 ¾” x 5 ½”
