Individual hand cut and painted turquoise and white ceramic plates. The turquoise glaze is layered in three different swirls. These are great little dessert, appetizer, cheese, or cracker plates. They were handmade from slabs of clay that were formed to have a small lip around the edge and dried very very slowly in homemade presses. Each is made one at a time and is unique.

owner, maker, designer, curator
Vitreous Wares is my one-woman operation based in any spare room found in my 1895 house in Portland, Oregon. Ten years ago I made the resolution to attend art school at the Pacific Northwest College of Art. After attaining my degree in sculpture, I furthered my skills in ceramics, photography and design through differing jobs.
All of my work is made either with slabs of clay or slip cast from molds that I make. I never use a potter's wheel. My work is usually functional although I have begun a wall series. I love working with slabs of clay and once I get a form I'm happy with, I often make a plaster mold and will make small runs of 50 or less of that piece. I make each piece one at a time and no two are ever exactly alike.
