Cloisonne is a technique used to create designs on metal vessels. Colored glass paste is placed inside copper or bronze wire enclosures which have been shaped into an intricate pattern. Known as cloisons (French meaning partitions), the enclosures are pasted or soldered onto the base metal body. The glass paste or enamel is mixed with metallic oxide and placed into the cloisons. the item is then fired a number of times to fill in the design. A time consuming and precise process.
Excellent condition. No cracks, chips, dents, dings, holes, stains, and no repairs. I have not cleaned the copper.
