In the thirties, the company MIOM, known for their Bakelite items, started making camera's, the Photax series. This camera is one of them and is from the series which was made in 1955 and one which is not easy to find anymore.
Different from other Miom Photax camera's is the rewind wheel which usually is black, and the chromed helical tube.
The lens is a Boyer lens which can be retracted into the body of the camera as you can see in photo 2 and 3.
The camera can be used, the shutter works fine.
It produces 6x9 images on 620 film.
620 Film is no longer available but you can spool a 120 film on the 620 wind up spool. There is spool in the camera. 620 Spools are available on the internet, also here on Etsy I've seen them.
The camera is in vintage condition. It has wear, the grey rewind wheel is damaged (photo 4) and the Bakelite body has marques from where the camera has been slid in an out of its camera bag. (5th photo)
It seems to have some rust on the inside of the lens and the inside of the body could do with some dusting.
The camera measures 16 cm's wide by 10 cm's high.
In inches this will be 6.3" wide and 3.95" high.
