Sizing: This American Apparel brand tank top follows men's/unisex sizing. Trust the numeric US sizing equivalents listed above if you are a woman. I am 145 lbs., 34DD (larger chest), 5'9"(tall), size 8, and I could wear the S, but I prefer the M because I don't want it too fitted. Size down for a 'slim fit.' For men, the size M runs small, so many size up to a L. Most people over 6'2" size up to the L for length. The general rule is that if you are between 5'10", 170 lbs and 6'2" and 180 lbs., size up to the XL ( L will be too tight). People 155- 170 lbs. typically get the L. Also, most girls who want to layer underneath size up one full size, so, for example, many girls that are a true US 6-8 buy the size M.
