This Bright Birdy Baby Quilt is a sweet little quilt inspired by the four stripes of bird fabric that run the width of the quilt.
The blues, yellows, greens and whites were all suggested by the bird print, with just a few purples, pinks and reds thrown in for excitement.
This adorable quilt is the perfect size to lay on the floor for a tiny baby just starting to need some time on his tummy, or to fold up and put in a diaper bag or tuck around a baby in a stroller.
I always wash the fabric first, before I cut into it, to remove any textile finishing, When I complete the quilt, I wash and dry it again. Out of the dryer, the quilt is cozy, soft and beautifully puckered. Continue to gently wash and dry by machine. You may opt to hang-dry if you like.
The back of the quilt is a white with black polka dots which co-ordinates nicely with the fabrics on the front side.
The little quilt measures approximately 35” x 38” and is made with top quality 100% cotton fabrics. The inner batting is Hobbs 80/20, which is 80% cotton and 20% polyester.
I have quilted this with an all-over meandering stitch. The black and white striped double layered binding was sewn on by machine and finished off with a hand stitch on the backside.
This quilt was sewn in a smoke and cat free house.
