Rutilated quartz is quartz with mineral inclusions. These inclusions or rutiles are small, needle like crystals also known as "Venus hair". Rutiles can come in many shades, black, green, gold, red and the less common coppery gold shade. These particular earrings are saturated with beautiful coppery gold rutiles, making them shimmer.
Each onion briolette has been wire wrapped in fine gauge copper wire then oxidized for contrast. I have carefully formed, hammered, filed, oxidized and polished each ear wire to be comfortable and gentle.
These "Venus capillus" earrings dangle a little over an inch from you lobe.
