Adorable wood hippo from the Kay Bojesen inspired Zoo Line. It is made of what appears to be teak and features hinged eyes and teeth made from a different, lighter wood, a curly tail and a hinged mouth that opens to reveal a secret compartment for rings, coins or other treasures. It measures about 7 1/2" long and is in very good vintage condition with a lovely patina, and a few nicks and scratches here and there. The mouth does not stay open, though this could perhaps be changed with tighter screws. The tail is made of a very soft and pliable reed-like wood and has some cracks and a little "fraying." This hippo would make a great addition to any bojesen, bolling, skjode or other scandinavian modern wood figure collection!
