Sometimes when I sculpt, the clay has a way of telling me what it wants me to create. In this case it wanted to be a shark. I sculpted this shark from a gorgeous sandy beige stoneware. I wanted it to have sort of a rustic feel reminiscent of paint washed beach houses with the natural weathered grey of the wood peeking through. I've glazed this shark with a mix of underglazes and oxides used as washes to allow the original clay to show through a bit.
5 inches long.
