Pack the inner chamber with slightly softened unsalted butter (this one will hold 1.5 sticks, then add some cold water to the outer chamber. Invert the butter-holding half into the water filled part and set it on the counter. The water provides an air-tight seal to preserve the butter. Replace with fresh water every day or two.
This piece is wheel thrown from light stoneware clay. The glaze is a pale translucent opal blue.
The glaze is food safe. Clean up is easy in the dishwasher. The piece is oven or microwave safe, with care, so it could be used for melting butter. Do not use with direct heat, such as stove top burners.
