It really is!
Isn't it nice to come home after a long day at work to your sewing and craft room?
Why settle for one of those tacky tomato pincushions as you find your creative inspirations?
Get a stylish one! Or if you are a fan of "The Lion King", this would be an amazing addition to your African collection!
For your consideration, this tribal African themed jungle animal pincushion.
As I was constructing this, it was a work in progress. I really didn't know how it would turn out. I had the fabric and the lion focal and the rest just evolved. I think the shape and design of the pincushion resembles an African tribal drum which is perfect for the theme.
This is a weighted over-sized pincushion. You have lots of rooms for pins! You also get six coordinating decorative straight pins to get started on your next project. The straight pins are pearl headed steel pins with a sienna colored Swarovski gem beneath.
The pincushion is covered entirely with black felt. The pin cushion top is made of silky cheetah fabric.
The side of the cushion has been accented with two different kinds and shades of textured braid. Decorative medallion trim makes up the center portion of the side trim.
The brass focal is the countenance of a roaring lion. Two raw tufts of cheetah fabric accent the top of the lion and the underneath portion. It has been "messy cut" and looks like tribal fabric with little frays and an underlying edginess.
This pincushion is 4.5 inches tall and is almost 3.5 inches wide. It will hold a hundred straight pins easily. This would also be splendid for a grouping of hatpins in earthy shades.
This is a very affordable original work of art.
How wonderful this would be for a crafter, seamstress, or quilter. Work it into a basket of sewing notions and fabric as a special gift. Or even better--keep it for yourself! .
This would also be a fabulous masculine gift for men who sew for a living also--it has a traditional, elegant look without being overly feminine.
Thanks for visiting my studio today!
Much love and Hakuna Matata!
