I made this leaf plate/shallow bowl by rolling a large hosta leaf into white earthenware clay whilst wet. The vein imprints have come out beautifully. An original an elegant serving plate for snacks, vegetables or fruit or even as a large bathroom soap dish

The plate measures approx 8 inches (22cm) long and just under 7.5 inches (19cm) wide.

The glaze is speckled neutral matt stone colour- a very versatile colour to fit in almost anywhere.

The underside of the leaf is glazed with clear transparent and covers approx 2 cm round the outside of the leaf overlapping the matt a little to make the edges sealed and more durable. There is a small circular area on the base which is left unglazed to prevent it sticking to the kiln shelf during firing.

All glaze used is lead free and food safe.
