This pendant is handmade using painstaking wire-wrapping techniques. Permanently colored gun metal (hematite or near-black metallic color) wire frames and encircles the pendant, and is then used as the roots, trunk and branches of the tree.
This tree is bare of leaves like one would see in late Autumn and features a large, dyed, iridescent copper / burnt orange pearl round disk "full moon" behind the branches. A handmade polymer clay bat charm (made by me from a mold I created) is nestled into the wire as an additional, Halloween-inspired accent. The little bat won't go anywhere but because he's clay, you need to take care not to smack him into anything to avoid potential breakage.
The Bat Tree was inspired by a discussion about crazy people online - those who are flat out "Bat Shit Crazy!" - and the idea came about to make a Tree featuring a bat. Naming the tree involved lots of laughs and spawned a number of funny references such as "Na Na Na Na Na Na - Bat Tree!" (a spoof on the old "Batman" theme song.) In a more serious note, it also perfectly doubles as a fun variation on my Halloween Moon Tree. =D

Last photo shows the Bat Tree compared to my Halloween Moon tree. As you can see, the Bat Tree is a gunmetal wire and copper moon versus the black wire and orange moon of the Halloween Moon Tree. I wanted it to be similar in color scheme and yet have it's own style as well. The Bat Tree has a slightly more "antique" or "vintage" feel to the coloring as a result.
Each will be handmade from scratch so please allow for some natural variation in the wire wrapping, coloration on the moon bead and bat charm. Just like a real tree in nature, no two are ever exactly alike!
