I have hand sculpted her hollow head with Southern Ice porcelain clay. I then hand painted her facial details and trees on the back of her head. The head is attached to inside the fibre body with a linen thread. The last image is to show how her head can pop out little more, rotate, tilt etc.
The body part was wet-felted by hands with Australian merino wool fibre, soap and warm water.
I find wet-felting and hand building with clay quite similar and satisfying experience in my hands.
The felted body is hollow with an opening on the bottom. It is very flexible, you could squash and reshape too.
What would you place in her pocket?
Thank you for looking!
