An Art Deco Era Hendryx metal wire bird cage/birdcage with black pull out tray for cleaning and glass side panels to hold watering dishes in place. This is a classic Antique/Vintage/Retro Hendryx brand birdcage repainted (not by me) in gold and black. This cage is in good vintage condition and dates c. late 20s.
What I love about this particular cage, and what validates its age are the two glass panels that slide up and down in order to hold the feed and water dishes in place at either end. This cage does have a few imperfections, but don't we all when we make it to 90+ years old? They are minor, chipped paint, a bit of rust around the glass panel pull tab, bent wire bars, easily bent back into place.
The classic "Hendryx" metal label is present on the wire hinged door. The watering dishes are not present but are easily replaceable today, as I checked. I did not, personally, repaint this particular cage, but could not resist its aesthetic appeal. I would not recommend this cage for live animals as I am unsure of the type of paint used, and it could be harmful to live animals. This would make a fabulous planter or gift card cage for a garden wedding. And if you're really creative, how cool would this be as a funky Lamp or Lighting piece!
