This lidded bowl has been wood-fired multiple times to temperatures upwards of 2350 F. The first time it was fired, a piece of wadding got lodged in the bottom of the bowl. After grinding out that wad, and a few firings later, all the glaze ran to the bottom as well. Finally, I fired the bowl upside down, which caused the glaze to run back up. I decided that would be the final firing. The copper glaze turned a variety of beautiful colors, as you can see, due to the unpredictable nature of the wood kiln's atmosphere.

This bowl has some pinholes along the inside wall, but they should not present a health hazard unless food is left to harden in the bowl after it is used. Long story short: rinse this bowl after use. The lid has also become a little bit warped, but still fits fine. I also had to grind a little bit on the lid and the rim of the pot, but it's not very noticeable. Other than that, the bowl is pretty functional. I attached tiny lugs to the sides to add some small grips for moving the bowl, and I trimmed a ring on the lid so it can be used as a small dish for sauce or refuse while eating. This bowl would also look nice displayed, or holding candy or trinkets.

It measures about 4 1/4" tall with lid, about 5" wide from lug to lug, has a 2 1/2" foot ring on the bowl, and the lid has a 1 1/2" ring. The bowl holds about 2 cups.

All of my pots are food, dishwasher, and microwave safe.
