The cork is made from cork, because that looks the most like real cork, and I like things to look real.
I imagine this pot as being in a wizard or witches work shop, or an alchemists study. Possibly someone dabbling in Voodoo might have this hidden in the attic. I don't really know.
1" high, 3/4" wide.
This pot was thrown on a wheel just like a full sized piece of pottery. The walls of this pot are thin and to scale.
Each one of my miniature pots is handmade, so all are different. I try to make lots of styles so that you can find the one that is perfect for your collection, and so that I don't go nuts making the same thing over and over. They sometimes look similar, but there is always something unique about each one.
This was fired to highfired porcelain temperatures in an electric kiln along with a load of full sized work.
I did not start out as a miniaturist, but as a potter. When I was asked a few years ago to make some pottery for a dollhouse collector, the person asking told me it would be OK to just make things look real, but that the lids did not have to come off, or the spouts pour. But as a craftsperson I just could not bring myself to do that, and worked on making the tools that would let me get everything as real as possible. The glazes are the same I use on my full size work, just adjusted a little so that they will work on something so small.
