This is an extremely scarce vintage pocket shrine dating to the 1940s. This little silvertone metal case has a flip up lid, which reveals a miniature statue of Saint Theresa. The small statue shows incredible detail and appears to be cast out of either aluminum or lead. The bottom base of the statue is marked "St. Theresa" and the reverse is marked "Germany." The interior of the pocket shrine still has its original purple felt backing and the lid still closes securely. The St Theresa statue measures approximately 1-1/8 inches in height, while the case measures 5/8 inches by 1-7/8 inches in size. These little pocket shrines are often associated with WWII as many Catholic soldiers carried these shrines with them for good luck. These original pocket shrines are becoming incredibly difficult to find, especially in such remarkable condition. The Saint Theresa statue shows very little wear and the case is in wonderful condition, showing only very minor wear. This miniature shrine would delight any collector!
The pocket shrine will ship secured via USPS First-Class Mail.
