The Ammonite name comes from its appearance: it resembles a ram’s horn. In Egyptian mythology, the God Ammon looked like a man with horns like a ram. The ancient fossil was considered Ammon’s stone, thus inheriting the name, ammonite.
Jewelry by North Ammonite bracelet measures 7-1/2 inches in length. (Additional links can be added to increase the size - just let us know what size you need - also, a few links can be removed to make it a smaller bracelet as well)
The Ammonite measures 1-3/8 x 1-1/4 inches and is encased in a setting of hand carved and cast sterling silver. The band has been hand knitted (nalebinding) using sterling silver wire and the end caps were hand carved and cast as well. A large sterling silver magnet clasp completes this piece.

All Jewelry by North items are Sterling Silver sculptures made using the Lost Wax Casting process.
First, North carves a design out of wax. The wax sculpture then gets placed in a substance which is similar to plaster of paris. The mold is then baked for 10-12 hours in a kiln. The next step is for molten metal, in our case Sterling Silver, to be poured into the mold. The investment is then "quenched" in water causing it to dissolve, and the raw silver sculpture is born!
The finishing process of hand grinding and hand polishing then takes place and the sculpture is now ready to be worn.
