The 16 string Irish harp that was modelled on the 'Brian Boru' harp in Trinity College Dublin,with the year(1968) on the right side and eire on the left of the harp.
Agriculture was essential to the economy of Ireland and the theme chosen for the coins, would feature animals(bull on the shilling) and birds.
The last shillings were minted in 1968 and was finally withdrawn from circulation on January 1, 1993 as a smaller five pence coin was introduced.
Ireland went over to the use of the Euros on January 1,2002.
