This pair of Yin-Yang earrings appears to be handmade and the construction is reminiscent of Tibetan, Afghani and Indian jewelry. It consists of a 7/8 in. disc into which are inlaid the Taoist fish-like shapes, also referred to in Chinese medicine and other disciplines as yin and yang, dark and light, balance. The inlaid fish shapes are separated by a silver scroll and the black and white inlays appear to be stone or some sort of bone--it's very hard to tell, but I'm leaning towards stone. Topping the disc are a creamy white and black bead separated by a carved metal ring. The earring backs are the hinge type and are of a different type of metal. Overall length is approx. 2 1/2 inches. Beautiful and in excellent vintage condition with some minor occidation around the edges of the discs.
