A U.S. World War II Army Signal Corps telegraph key mounted on a marble rectangular display base. From our research, we have discerned the following about this particular type of vintage telegraph key:

J-38 keys were manufactured by many companies during and after WW II.
Generally the maker's name is not on the key; however, from the archived pictures, it appears to be made by McElroy Electronics Co.
This was a widely used WWII military key.
Nickel plated key with shorting lever mounted on a black bakelite base and brass screws.
The keypad is also black bakelite.

We are certain that this is a non-working telegraph key; however, makes a beautiful collectible decorative piece for any home or office. Please see pictures for condition, but appears to be in good vintage condition. The marble base measures 5" by 2 1/2" and the vintage telegraph key is attached with screws (one of the two screws is missing, but could easily be replaced).
