Title: The Rules of Counterpoint
Author: W.S. Rockstro
Publisher: Robert Cocks & Co
Publication Year: 1920s?
Size: 12.4cm x 18.3cm
This book is in fair condition with brown cloth boards and the title of the book and author in embossed gilt on the front board. There is a water mark on the front board and scuff marks around the edge of the front and back boards.
The spine is cracked in a few places throughout the book, primarily between pages 34 and 35 and pages 66 and 67. However the binding is still secure and all the pages are present. There are foxing marks scattered throughout the pages, particularly on the first two and last two pages. The publication year is not mentioned however someone has pencilled the date “1927” under the publishers name on the title page.
There is a handwritten name in blue ink on the inside of the front board which reads “T.M. Chappell Bandmaster RAF”, which suggests that this book was owned by a member of the British armed forces at some point.
This book has clearly been well used over the years and may not be in suitably gift giving condition. However it would still be good for anyone who plays a musical instrument or is a music enthusiast.
