I love this turn of the century Turtle Curling Iron Heater. The ladies would use these natural gas powered stands to heat their curling irons, or hair tongs. With no control of the heat of the iron there must have been many cases of singed hair, not to mention burnt fingers and scalps. The detailed turtle figure makes this item a very neat piece. Originally it had a metal gas vent that was located in the bottom with a knob and natural gas connection.

A hair designer or collector of vintage and antique curling irons would probably really dig this item. It would be a great display piece in a vintage-style salon. Turtle collectors would also probably enjoy it. The inside has some carbon residue from use and there is some rust and grime on this piece. I cleaned it lightly with a soft brush, but did not want to mess with the old patina of this item.

It measures approx. 7" x 3.5" x 4" and weighs approx. 1 lb. and 7 oz. Also newly added and included is a small old curling iron with a wooden handle for display. It is about 8" long and is in very rustic condition.
