Shaheen not only made the aloha shirt popular, but he pioneered textile manufacturing in Hawaii. Rather than being dependent on mainland textiles and their lengthy arrival time to the islands, he opened his own textile business in 1948. His bold and extraordinary prints were influenced not only by Hawaii but the Pacific Rim. His elegant and feminine dress designs and garments are highly coveted today. Shaheen retired and closed his business in 1988, fortunately his prints are licensed to fabric companies such as Westminster Fibers. He was a recipient of Hawaii's Lifetime Achievement Award and The Honolulu Advertiser named Shaheen one of Hawaii's most Influential 150 people. It's an honor to fashion bags from his beautiful vintage hand prints.
This dainty clutch purse showcases Shaheen's vintage hand print, "Plum Blossoms" in vibrant blues, gold and white in 100% cotton. The plum blossoms dance across the purse adorned with a beautiful, gold emblem that offers a metallic sheen - making it a perfect evening bag. The interior is lined with a coordinating blue in 100% Kona cotton.
