from Mt Ida, Arkansas, a vintage specimen
Wavellite is an uncommon phosphate mineral closely related to turquoise
I collected these while I was in college. I was studying paleontology and collecting graptolites on a rural roadside in Arkansas. One day the local state trooper, who always watched over me, came by with a sample of this "green rock they found at the new county pit and did I want him to show me the diggings", "why of course" I said. John and I spent many days over the years collecting this pit until it was put under claim. This is a cute pristine specimen.
