This dish makes a great container for serving candy or nuts or holding some pot pourri.
The inside of the pot is glazed in a food-safe creamy yellow glaze with small red spots. The outside is left to the elements of the kiln and reflects the intense heat of the fire. The bowl was fired in a wood-fired kiln in Eastern Kentucky up to cone 10-11. Plenty of flashing of warm brown tones from the intense heat. The flashing really brings out the character of the primitive carvings. Soft hues of the flame highlight the texture.
This bowl measures 2 3/8" high by 6 7/8" wide with a 5 3/8" opening. My marks are stamped on the bottom. This item is food-safe. It can be washed in a dishwasher but hand-washing is generally recommended for all handmade pottery. I no longer recommend microwaving any ceramic items, even commercially made items, without using hand protection when removing them from the microwave to protect from the heated object.
Please keep in mind that ceramic work is generally heavier than other craft work and the shipping costs will reflect the extra amount it costs to ship heavier items.
