I remember on a long overseas flight to Tokyo, the stewardess saw I was knitting a cabled scarf and sat down on the seat arm to watch. She was very impressed with the intricate twisting pattern of the cabling - that was, until she saw me actually do it.
"That's it?" she said. "That's all it takes?" She immediately picked up my needles, made a couple of cables, and set out for a twisty future of Aran sweaters and fancy socks.
The secret is out. Making cables is not hard. I won't go into it here. There are wonderful books and videos online to show you how, but the truth is you will have cables from your head to your toes once you learn! Making those cables will be extra luxurious with these solid silver cable needles.
