This vintage top is made by Ohio Art for Hallmark Cards, Inc., copyright 1980, 1981 and 1982. It features the popular Shirt Tales characters named Rick the Raccoon, Pammy Panda, Tyg Tiger and Bogey Orangutan and Digger Mole. It is made of clear plastic that has some scratches and small six (6) blue, white and orange balls inside that spin. You simply place the top on a flat surface and with the other hand pull up the red wooden top and up pops the metal spiral/spinning mechanism. You push in an up and downward motion and it spins the balls around faster and faster, to a childs delight! It makes a nice little clinking sound when the balls spin because the bottom half is made of tin and the yellow stand is made of plastic. It works perfectly and gives instruction to "Oil the Spiral to Prevent Undue Wear."
This is a great vintage toy find and is rare. The condition is great considering its from the 80s making it a little over 30-years old! A great vintage toy.
