Our Industrial Chic up-cycled base (from an old factory) supports a reclaimed wood Bistro Table "redoux". The supple wood is from a Box Elder tree we rescued from the grinder crew after the flood of 2009 in Lincoln County New Mexico. It is ready to be adopted. The tree was unearthed by the powerful rushing water and pushed up on top of a fence, creating a disheveled dam that had to be dismantled when flood waters receded. We've cleaned, leveled, kiln dried, and cut the tree into appropriate pieces fit for this elegant yet fun bistro table. We cut the rounds for the foot rest and the table top. Then we smoothed and polished the sides and top to reveal the incredible "figured burl" in the wood.
There is a natural coral colored spalting in parts of the wood that makes the piece truly compelling. We added clear matte hard wax to protect its surface. Just think about it ... they were going to grind it up and send it to the dump!
Top surface - 34 1/2"
