The U.S. Army Air Corps was active from 1926 until 1942 and disbanned in 1947. It was the forerunner of the U.S. Air Force. The last pic shows their symbol which is incorporated into the badge.
Swank has been a leader in men's accouterments since 1897. The patent 18659951932 places it as an earlier 1930's piece and a rare one. Combined with the military and World War 2 connections this is a wonderful piece for any collector. It measures 2 1/16" (5 1/2 cm) and while there is minor rubbing to the rear of the emblem (see 4th picture) the rest is in near fine condition.
