Instead of creating a work that uses just one or two cut-outs as the focal point, I decided to create a cluster f*** of a piece that incorporated a whole bunch of little cut-outs from the advertisements of the vintage magazine Screen Stories. With this piece, you get a plethora of ads trying to sell everything from jesus crosses to vintage wigs for women. I positioned the items on the canvas using my knowledge of the elements of design and composition. It is balanced, and unique. This is the first of it's kind, and I am very happy with the way it turned out. :)
The 2"x2" mini canvas was created by carefully pasting the paper cut-outs onto the canvas with Glue n' Seal paste and varnish. This truly unique piece of "mini art" has been sealed with a matte varnish. Adhesive magnet strips were glued to the back of the canvas.
The quality of my artwork continues to rise...I am finding out what works and what does not when creating these mini pieces of art. This is a truly unique little piece of retro goodness that compliments any fridge, file cabinet or shelf.
I see my art as more than just a boring refrigerator magnet...it can be incorporated into any section of your home or office.
I really do hope you cherish this piece. :D
