These are hefty pieces, made of steel, with a thick, round "bonnet" for holding the tool with a steady hand, or hanging on the wall. The tallest is just about 9 1/4" high when the legs are closed, and the bonnet top is 3/4" wide at the top. When the legs are open to the fullest extent, the distance between the two end "feet" is 8 3/4".
Middle sized caliper is 6" tall. The third one is just about 4" long.
Both sides of these tools are shown in the photo, and so are the easily readable maker's marks of 812 Brown & Sharpe Mfg. Co. Providence, RI USA. This company has produced drafting and engineering tools for many years. All parts of these 3 tools are original, the legs, wheel rod, and wheel. All parts are in place. The wheel turns easily on all, and the legs move easily also. Darkened steel with wear and surface scratches are now part of these tools, and no bends or creases, no missing parts, and all fine tools of steel. The tips of the legs are not sharp (like a measuring compass), but have a curved out edge point so they look like dancing feet.
Caliper, a neat, old measuring tool. Sometimes spelled with two l's (the British English version), calliper.
Great display of three. All for one price.
