They named me Jack.
I lived in a patch until they came to harvest and snatch….
I was a pumpkin carved into a pail..
Placed on the front porch with another of my kind
whose face was painted just like mine.
Up the porch steps in all shape and size
Voices went screeching “A trick or a treat”
and the filling of bags with all sorts of sweets.
When the moon grew full, the wind blew up hard,
then off when the clothes, left out on the line,
and suddenly, suddenly they became mine.
A path made from moonlight called me out for a run.
When he said, if you leave me, a pie won’t be fun.
So, I would rather instead come and live in your head.
Jack is hand spun of organic cotton fibers over a wire armature, dressed in dyed cotton roving, and painted in acrylic pigments. He measures an approx 4 in. in length and has been fitted with a length of dyed vintage carpet cording fastened to his wire pail head to accommodate hanging.
He will come to you signed and dated ready to join you in some Halloween fun so long as you have no intention of slicing his friend into pie.
