GORGEOUS MARIE ANTOINETTE PINK AND GOLD IMPERIAL VINTAGE TEACUP TRIO
Made in the north of England by the much admired Imperial pottery, most probably in the 1940s, this ornate and delicate fine china trio comprises of a teacup, saucer and cake plate.
The lower section of the cup and middle areas of the saucer and plate are colour washed in a delicate ballerina pink.
Around the pink runs a fine gilt line and above this features lustrous and careful patterning displaying extravagant tassels that drape from a golden filigree design interspersed with fabulous white stars.
The trio's rims and edges are enhanced and defined with further gilt work that runs onto the teacup's petite and glamourous handle.
22 karat gold is used throughout.
The inside base of the teacup features a wonderful surprise - a gilt regal sunburst flourish that only shows once the contents of the cup have been consumed.
With its sugar pink, white and gold colours and Versailles style decoration, it's very easy to imagine a tea set like this being enjoyed by European aristocrats at one of Marie Antoinette's afternoon cake parties.
The set's wonderful gleaming embellishment and distinctive style make the items immediately recognised as vintage - the perfect addition to any tea party, dinner party or wedding gathering.
The trio's heart-stoppingly pretty looks also make them fabulous to display in an armoire or kitchen dresser.
The undersides of the cup, saucer and cake plate are all back stamped in gilt with the words "Imperial", "Fine English China" and "Warranted 22 Kt Gold". These back stamps confirm the set's makers as Imperial and that genuine 22 karat gold has been used in the their creation.
The charming teacup trio is in excellent vintage condition, with no chipping, cracking or crazing.
Height including cup, saucer and cake plate: 9 cm
Width of saucer: 14 cm
