I have carefully crafted this valet from a choice piece of Caribbean Rosewood. It has been cut such that the grain is continuous around the entire valet and used miter joints to reveal the matched grain at the corners. Dovetail keys of Kiaat, or Muninga, are used to guarantee a solid construction and at the same time add a subtle accent. The top edge has also been trimmed with Kiaat, as has the pedestal, shaped with a classical pattern. The interior is Black Walnut, rounded over on top and shaped for easy access to the contents. The interior bottom is lined with leather suede.
Extra attention has been paid to finishing all the wood surfaces. Tung Oil was used to let the woods' depth, color and grain be revealed. In addition, Shellac, one of the classic finishes, has been used for the exterior, which has been French Polished to a high gloss. Along with letting the beautify and richness of the Rosewood shine, it is also a joy to touch. As a final level of detail and protection, all surfaces, inside and out, have been buffed and polished with Fine Paste Wax.
The valet is 13x8-1/2in and stands 3in tall. The three back compartments are 3¼ x 5in, 4¼ x 5in and 3¼ x 5in, from left to right. The pen compartment is 8¼ x 2in and the change compartment is 3x2in.
