My process: Copper is cut from a thick sheet of metal. It is carefully cleaned and prepared in order to accept the enamel. Then, I apply multiple layers of enamel, which is finely powdered glass. The layers of enamel are fused to the copper at a very high temperature with a torch. This firing process is repeated many times. And voila .... vibrantly colored enamel disc earrings which are smooth to the touch and will make a great gift for yourself or a loved one.
The art of enameling has been around for..... a really long time. The first known enameled objects were made during the 13th century BC. The word "enamel" means ‘melting’, which comes from a prehistoric Germanic word "smalt". I LOVE this ancient art form for many reasons. Its color will remain just as vibrant in 100 years as it is the day it's created.
*Earrings hang approximately 1 inch (~2.5 cm) long.
*Actual enamel disc is 12mm (~ 1/2 inch) in diameter.
*The ear wires are handmade out of argentium sterling silver wire (which is a trademarked sterling silver metal that is highly tarnish resistant)
The modeled earring is shown to judge size. You will receive a new pair of earrings.
