Holly Golightly would love this modernized version of her classic lampshade hat. I hand blocked with velour wool in a stunning colbalt blue, I used a bright color to show her vibrant personality, and also as a contrast to the black of the original, black was a less common, more cutting edge color at the time, and since black is a staple in our wardrobes now, I chose to use a bright color, which is not as common in modern times. I used a taller crown to bring in the current trend of top hats for women.
Instead of the large off white sash I used 3 layers of black crinoline, a more modern material, giving it a very modern edge, but still the same feel.
