Sunshine, buttercups, lemon ice cream. Yellow is associate with light & good things. This color can't help but make you smile. Bring a little sunshine to your day with this cheery armband.
Who says having a PICC line / IV means you need to sacrifice style and comfort? With this hip hand-knit armband, you can keep all your IV tubing in one place and stop the hard plastic parts of the line from digging into your arm. Leave behind fraying burn gauze, and opt for something fun!
I designed these out of necessity. I’ve had PICC lines over the course of several years, in order to get the antibiotics I need to fight chronic Lyme disease and co-infections. I was tired of using ugly socks or burn gauze to keep the tubing tucked. So of course, as soon as I realized I could combine my passion for knitting and comfort and sustainability into an armband, I was away designing my ‘IV Comfy Covers’.
I was so used to having a PICC line in my arm that I didn’t realize how much discomfort it was causing me. Now I can't imagine not slipping my arm into one of these every morning! They are tight enough to stay up, and loose enough to breathe, which leaves your arm happy. As a bonus, there is no rubbing or chaffing of the line against the rest of your body, especially nice if you suffer skin hyper-sensitivity. This item is vegan, hand-knit by myself, a vegan. In the knitting world, that just means that it is created out of plant-based fibres, which are fantastic for your skin and the earth :).
You really forget you are wearing an armband and have a PICC line…and so does everyone else. People compliment me all the time on my super awesome ‘arm cozy’ and are curious what it is for. Most people who’ve never met me don’t know I have an IV line, because it is so cleverly disguised! ;)
You can wear this armband under a loose long sleeve shirt, sweater or coat, as it is quite thin and flat. Even though the tubing itself is quite bulky, this armband makes it less noticeable.
Each time you buy an IV cover, I will donate $2.00 of my proceeds to CanLyme (canlyme.com), an incredible Canadian organization promoting research, education, diagnosis and treatment of Lyme and other Tick-Borne Diseases. Check my shop announcements to see the monthly total donated!
