MANUFACTURER: D.M & Co. [Davenport and Mallory] All evidence I have found about this lock company is that they manufactured locks in the mid-1800s, specifically around Civil War era and closed in 1864.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Brass details and iron case and shackle. Keyhole cover has "D.M& Co." stamped into it. The body of the lock was once colored black, but has mostly come off revealing the iron with patina beneath. This is all evident in the detail photos.
Lock - 2-1/2 inches wide by 3-1/2 inches tall at extreme points.
Key is 1-7/8 inches long and is a hollow barrel.
ERA: Antique [likely Civil War era]
CONDITION: Very Good Vintage Condition for it's age! Some cosmetic issues mentioned above. There are no mechanical issues. The key turns smoothly and the shackle opens immediately without issue. A lovely piece for a collector, decorator or artist.
++These are actual vintage or antique items, not replicas.
