Gorgeous red and black packaging holds a vinometer which, I believe, is used for testing the alcohol content of wine.
The paper covered cardboard tube has a bit of rubbing and a couple off tears here and there but nothing serious - you can see the worse one very clearly in the first photograph. The vinometer itself appears to be intact and is marked 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20. There is also some writing on the glass tube which I believe is the name of the manufacturer, Bernadot, - however, I can't quite make it out.
The vinometer itself measures 6 inches long and the packaging measures 6.75 inches long and 1.25 inches in diameter at the top.
A great gift for a collector or winemaker - I assume it still works but couldn't say for sure - or just for a bit of interesting décor.
This item is very old, probably from the beginning of the 20th century so please take the time to zoom in on the photographs and get an accurate idea of the condition.
