Sorry, this item sold. Have damesalamode make something just for you, or try these other items:
The main fabric of the bonnet is a light pink 100% silk taffeta. The fabric is slightly more pink thann shows in these pictures and a little less grey (the shimmer of the silk seems to confuse my poor camera!). The brim is bound in bias-cut black silk taffeta. The ribbon trim is a high-quality black rayon ribbon. The ribbon is lighty wired at the edges which makes for big, beautiful bows. They are very easily shaped to make sure they look perfect!
I would have considered this to be a very modern color combination, but please see the fashion plate I've attached from 1806 from Journal des Dames et des Modes. They liked black and pink together as much as we do!
The brim of this bonnet is made with a heavyweight buckram lined with flannel so that the taffeta has a smooth finish. The brim is edged with millinery wire and covered in French crinoline tape for a finished edge without the unsightly ridge of the wire.
The crown of the bonnet features an interior drawstring of pink silk ribbon, so it is easily adjustable to fit your head. The inside of the crown is lined with a stiff cotton organdy which does double duty of protecting the bonnet from hair oils and products as well as giving the crown the trademark pouf, even if you don't have the perfect coiffure to fill it!
As with all of my bonnets, I take great care to maintain historical accuracy whenever possible, so this entire bonnet is hand-stitched. You can be confident that you are wearing an accurate bonnet to your reenactment or costuming events.
This bonnet ships priority mail in a sturdy box and will generally arrive anywhere within the continental U.S. in 2-4 days. I am happy to ship internationally, but please message me beforehand so we can discuss shipping options and I can create a custom shipping option for you.
If you have any questions or are interested in a custom bonnet, please do let me know!
