This is a vintage facsimile of a sketch drawing of two fishes. The artist identifies them as Guaromaru and Picuruata. The original, in pencil covered with ink, was drawn by Frei Cristovao de Lisboa in the 17th century (1625-1631) in Brazil, while he was there as a missionary.
Frei Cristovao de Lisboa made draw many sketches of the flora and fauna of Maranhao (Brazil). This vintage print was published in a book about the his work In Lisbon in the 1960s.
Size: approx. 9" by 12"
The facsimile is In excellent condition. It is printed on thick paper. The uneven borders and darker areas that you see are in the original drawing that is reproduced in this vintage facsimile.
