These prints are facsimiles of illustrations from a manuscript about the flora of Timor. The originals were drawn by a Portuguese priest in the 18th century and are held in an archive in Lisbon. They are watercolor illustrations on rice paper.
This facsimile edition was produced by the archive in 1969 and I understand that it is the only existing reproduction of these illustrations.
A facsimile is a copy or reproduction of an old book or manuscript that is as true to the original source as possible. As you can see in the scanned images, the page shows the illustration as it is in the original. Some of them have uneven borders or other minor imperfections. In my opinion, this makes the vintage illustration even more beautiful, you get an exact reproduction of an 18th century drawing.
Size: aprox. 10" by 13.5"
In excellent condition.
These prints are the actual page from a 1969 book, not a reproduction.
