I simply love the genuine old halo rings...especially when they have fiery old cut diamonds like this one has.....I believe this one dates to the Edwardian into the Art Deco era....(please note that it is much brighter and more fiery than I could capture in my photos...and the dark areas are just reflections from my camera!)

Crafted of solid 14K gold (the ring is mainly yellow gold, but the face and all the diamonds and detail work are in white) this ring features a super fiery old mine cut center diamond with eight old single cut diamonds surrounding it in it's halo.

The old mine cut center is approximately 5.2 mm in diameter, so I would estimate it to be approximately .50 to .55 carats or so...perhaps slightly more as these chunky older cut stones usually weigh more than modern cut stones of the same diameter. It is a very fiery and lively old stone...I would judge the color to be in the H-I range of near-colorless and it looks completely eye-clean to me. Under my 14x loupe I do see some white crystalline inclusions, but no carbon. There is also one small chip/oblong gouge mark near one prong that I can only see under magnification. It's really a pretty old diamond with a nice elevated table and open culet...and all the fire one expects to see in an old cut stone.

The center stone is held in place with eight prongs, all of which show wear, though not as much as I had expected to see. Still, I would recommend having them retipped to protect this old diamond.

Each of the smaller diamonds is set into pretty radiating settings with lots of milgrain work that is still very evident and really sets off the stones. Each of the smaller diamonds is approximately 2 mm in diameter and they are nice older single cuts with raised tables....except for one that looks like it may have been a replacement stone...it's table is a bit lower and it doesn't look like the cut is quite as old, when viewed through my loupe. These small diamonds are very bright and sparkly and again look eye-clean to me except for the one stone that I think is the replacement. That one looks more white, as it has white crystalline inclusions that I can see without my loupe. The others are much more clean and only a few have tiny crystalline inclusions that I can see under my 14x loupe....they match the color of the center stone nicely, I think. They are bead-set and the settings also show wear and should be retipped at some point soon.

This ring has a big, sparkly presence on the hand! (it's total carat weight is estimated to be approximately .76 - .81 carats.) It's face measures approximately 11.8 mm in diameter and the rise off the finger is approximately 5.4 mm to the very top of the central diamond's table. The gallery is rather crown-like and lets in light to help the diamonds really sparkle!

The band is simple and slender and does show some thinning at the very back where it was once sized. It looks to me like they did add some gold to strengthen the band and they made the band slightly oval when they sized it up....which can be done to put less stress on the settings. It is still marked for 14K gold on the inside of the band. The total weight of the ring is 3.60 grams.

Currently the ring is a size 8.5 and could be sized within reason by a good jeweler who is experienced with older jewelry. ** Please read my policies page for more information about sizing or feel free to convo me to discuss it or to obtain a quote from my trusted jeweler. I'm also happy to help locate a recommended jeweler in your area.

This would make a wonderful engagment or wedding ring...or a lovely old ring to add to your personal collection....

Please convo woth questions and Thanks for looking!
